The Morning Line — publication with a limited edition 12" vinyl record
The box including a book, a vinyl, a newspaper and an invitation present the internationally exhibited sound pavilion by the American artist Matthew Ritchie, called "The Morning Line".
The sculpture was displayed in Seville, Istanbul and Vienna. Its shape and sound installation varies according to the location.
Each location is described by a newspaper called 'Festival for spatial and advanced music composition', a limited 12" vinyl record and an invitation folder. The main color of the Viennese edition is red. For any future location, the issue will be designed in a different color.
The book reflects the parametric and complex character of the art work on a subtle level by integrating the main idea - a growth algorithm - into the design concept of the publication. The grid and the type setting scale in correspondence to the underlying shape of the sculpture (hexagon) and its growth algorithm. The usage of different paper weights and the ensemble of formats for the book, folded newspaper and invitation folder are also based on this concept.
